deCycles Pacific Mountains 2010
Journal Entry
Date: June 13
Day 1: Sunday
Departure: Seattle, WA
Arrival: Eatonville, WA

Distance: 66 miles
Highlights: Escort through Seattle. Urban bike path. Mt. Rainier foothills.
Description: 7:00am wakeup call. Out of the church by 8:15am. Denny Park small group meetings and putting flags on bikes. Make minor adjustments to our bikes, fill waterbottles, and get ready for a brunch meal at the church across the street. We’ve stayed at this church before and they treat us like royalty. We attended their church service….a very unique and different one indeed. Keagan Vaughan, a 4-year veteran said it was his favorite church service on all his deCycles trips. It was a spirited moment. The time was nearing 12:30pm and we had to get this thing on the road. We had 60-some miles to do today. It was a fun ride at first going through the downtown city streets. Then we headed further south into suburbia and then into the rain forest. We arrived in Eatonville around 6:30pm with only one rest stop today. Becca Saccone crashed in the parking lot only a few yards from the front door. She was celebrating too much when finishing her 66-mile day. I think it was only crash of the day. Now the groups are fixing supper and we’re ready to dive in.
Climate: Partly cloudy, low-70s
Overnight: Eatonville Baptist Church
