deCycles Mexico to Canada 2013
Journal Entry
Date: June 30
Day10: Sunday
Rest Day: Salida, CO

Climate:  Sunny, then clouds and rain at the end of rafting trip.
Overnight:   First Lutheran Church of Salida

The deCycles attended church services to a receptive congregation.  We sang our theme song and a second song and shared our mission.  We extended our deepest gratitude for the church's wonderful hospitality.  Then it was time to do our Brown's Canyon Arkansas River rafting trip.  The rafting company picked us up and drove us towards Buena Vista for the put-in on the river.  The river was gorgeous.  The rapids were tame and moderate but enough to create a thrill.  Towards the end of the trip, it started to rain.  Just like yesterday, the entire group was thrust into collective misery.  It was cold especially with everyone getting wet.  It was a mad dash to town to get dry and warm.  The local hot springs was absolute heaven.   Evening meal was on our own and most riders headed to the historical downtown of Salida.  It was early to bed to prepare for a long day to Summit County on Monday.  We will climb Hoosier Pass at 11,500-ft and hope it doesn't rain.  Clear weather is expected until 1pm, then a chance of rain.  We want to avoid that if possible.
