Day 5 ... Wednesday, June 25

Start: Melbourne Beach, FL

End: Titusville, FL

Distance: 65-mi.

Terrain: Flat coastline riding

Climate: Upper 90s, humid, hot, sunny, hot, sunny, hot again.

Woke up to NOCEUMS.  These are the little bugs you can't see biting you.  I'd never live here if this were a daily experience.  We were all bitten alive during breakfast outside.  So we moved inside for stretching and words of wisdom from Cricket. Wakeup was at 5:30am and we were out by 7;00am.....the earliest yet on the trip.  So we know we can clean up and clear out in 90-minutes.

The first 33-miles was a screaming paceline for most groups.  A couple groups tailed behind with chain and tire problems.  Then Kennedy Space Center was next after lunch.  75% of the group did this excursion not to be missed.  Many of the other riders not opting to go have been there before.  The KSC is a national treasure and and special part of history.  Those who lived in the 60s and 70s re-lived the space exploration adventure.   Younger riders very much enjoyed the space center.  We discussed the importance of the space program and where it is going in the future.

We spent 5-hours at the KSC and then pedaled the remaining 14-miles to St. Gabriel's Church in Titusville.  No major drama today.  We are staying here 2-nights with a trip to Universal Studios tomorrow.  This trip so far has laid out well with only one century in the past 5 riding days and no centuries scheduled until next Monday.  Looking forward to some fun at Universal Studios.
