deCycles Mexico to Canada 2013
Journal Entry
Date: June 25
Day5: Tuesday
Departure: Albuquerque, NM
Arrival: Sante Fe, NM

Distance:  74-miles.  Average speed over 15-mph.
Climate:  Sunny, hot, mid 90s.  Variable high winds all day.   Variable terrain climbing over 5000ft
Overnight:   First Presbyterian Church

It was a  pleasant morning to start climbing to Santa Fe, the capital city of New Mexico.  The deCycles were on the road by 7:30am and quickly climbed several thousand feet in the first 30-miles.  It was really windy today.  Sand blew into our food at lunchtime.  The dryness and wind is turning us into beef jerky.

The last leg of today's ride was on the Santa Fe Bikeway system.  This took us into the capitol building where we toured the legislature chambers and the inside rotunda.  This is not a traditional capitol building.  We're staying in one of the oldest churches in NM.  The Freewheelers cooked a pasta supper and we're going to bed early tonight to tackle the big climbs into Taos tomorrow.
