deCycles Southeast America 2014
Journal Entry
Day 0 ... Friday, June 20

Start: Key West, FL

End: Key West, FL

Distance: 18-miles

Terrain: Flat

Climate: Humid, low 90s, sunny.

Almost all the riders have arrived in Key West.  Some had flight delays.  The morning was devoted to meetings and groups going over their off-road job descriptions.  After lunch, the new deCycles jerseys were handed out.  We will be beacons out on the road with this safety green-yellow color of the jerseys.  Next up was a sightseeing tour around Key West in order to shake down the bikes and make sure everything is a GO for tomorrow.  We arrived back at Unity of the Keys Church for a lasagna dinner and a sing-a-long with their congregation.  Then we hopped back on the bikes again to watch the sun set over the pier overlooking the Gulf of Mexico.  It was beautiful.  Our escort through the crowded Duvall Street was exciting.  Onlookers were wondering what was going on.  The riders proudly yell out..."We are pedaling to Indiana!"  Most shake their heads in disbelief.  After gathering to get a group picture on the pier, the deCycles headed back to the church under darkening skies.  It was time to get rearranged and down to business.  Early to bed was the main issue.  Gotta be ready for a challenge of a lifetime.  We are all here and ready to go.
